Airport and Transportation

Toronto Pearson International Airport Redevelopment

The Terminal Development Project consists of a single unified terminal complex designed to replace the aging Terminals 1 & 2. Phases 1-4 include an 80-gate, three-sector terminal complex that can expand to a 135-gate terminal complex.

The design is premised on the creation of a balanced development integrating groundside access, terminal processing, and airside activity.

Toronto Pearson International Airport Pier F and Hammerhead

The second phase of the 4,000,000 sf redevelopment at Pearson International began in 2004. During this phase, our team oversaw the planning, design and construction of a third pier (Pier F) at the new Terminal 1. Pier F consists of a 300-metre-long, 39,100 square metre structure and Hammerhead F, a 44,100 square metre departure lounge. Passengers travel through the arrow-shaped lounge/waiting area when embarking or departing international flights. Pier F provides an additional 25 gates; two of which are designed to accommodate the new A380 Airbus.

Port Authority Bus Terminal Overbuild

The team for this 1,000,000 sf redevelopment project is comprised of 20 X Square Associates, LLC — a joint venture of Vornado Realty Trust and affiliates of Lawrence Ruben Company; London-based architectural design firm, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners; and Architect-of-Record, Adamson Associates.

Designed to LEED Gold standards, the development will add a new 50+-storey, Class A office tower on top of the existing 5-storey bus terminal.

Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit - Prototype Stations

The City of Toronto, Transit City, Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario established a Transit City Project Implementation Team for  the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project, a 33 km-long light rail transit line comprising  street-level, dedicated right-of-way track construction, with approximately 11 kilometres of bored twin tunnels.

Toronto Pearson Air Rail Link Station

Adamson Associates is working with the MMM Group to provide Planning, Design and Compliance Services to Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx for this ambitious transportation project. The Air Rail Link Station is part of the greater Air Rail Link Project that will connect Union Station in downtown Toronto, to Lester B. Pearson International Airport via the CN West Subdivision/Go Georgetown corridor. This premium rail service will make it quicker and easier for people to travel between the city's downtown core and its international gateway.

TTC York University Station

The new York University Station is located in the heart of the York University Campus. With the addition of this new station, the existing bus service currently circulating through the Common will be removed and replaced by pedestrian access for existing and future facilities and developments on the campus.

TTC Vaughan Corporate Centre

The Vaughan Corporate Centre (VCC) Station, represents the end of the line of the TTC’s Spadina Line Extension.

Automated People Mover l Toronto Pearson International Airport

The Automatic People Mover (APM) is a cable-driven train on an elevated guideway that links Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and the reduced rate parking facility. Adamson, as part of Airport Architects Canada, provided master planning and architectural design services to Earth Tech for the APM Stations at Terminal 1 and 3. Airport Architects Canada has overall design responsibility, including the design guidelines, for Phase 1 & 2 of Pearson's New Terminal Development Project. The Automated People Mover is part of this development.

Bandaranaike International Airport Redevelopment

Adamson completed the Terminal Concept and Master Plan for the Bandaranaike Airport in 2003. Our design transforms the existing airport into an internationally recognized 'gateway' terminal facility featuring expanded airside capacity with 16 bridged gates, 8 bussed gates, a unified terminal complex and pedestrian access through lush landscaped gardens connecting the terminal building to the curbs and centrally located parking structure. The principal elements of the Master Plan provide a balanced development of airside capacity, aircraft gating and parking.
