Commercial Highrise

425 Park Avenue

Adamson Associates is the Architect of Record for this new commercial development in New York City recently awarded to Foster + Partners on the basis of an international design competition.

Located in the heart of New York’s famed Plaza District, 425 Park Avenue will be the first full-block office development on this historic stretch of Park Avenue in nearly half a century.  The tower will be situated along Park Avenue’s double-wide boulevard with its attractive green medians, modern art exhibits and broad sidewalks.

World Trade Center Tower 4

The fundamental approach to 150 Greenwich Street is a “minimalist” tower that achieves an appropriate presence on a site facing the Memorial. The façades are clad in floor to ceiling windows that sandwich perforated meshed metal material at the spandrel areas and portions immediately below the ceiling to provide shading on the interior and a certain lightness and transparency on the exterior. The two obtuse edges of the tower on the southwest and northeast corners are articulated with dramatic indentations to appear slender and sharp.

Petro Canada Tower

Built adjacent to the North York City Hall, the Petro Canada building forms the north side of the North York Civic Centre Square. The 700,000 sf complex contains office and retail space for the Petro Canada employees. The building possesses a sculptural concrete civic motif at the top of the building which faces the civic square.

London Bridge Place

Located at London Bridge, this office and shopping development was conceived with the same spirit as the adjacent London Bridge Tower. The building’s design was determined by the site.

Sculpted naturally by the curve of the railway lines, it rises higher to the east towards London Bridge Tower and lower to the west towards Southwark’s Cathedral.

The building scales from south to north and its volume is shaped to adapt the the surrounding urban environment.

Port Authority Bus Terminal Overbuild

The team for this 1,000,000 sf redevelopment project is comprised of 20 X Square Associates, LLC — a joint venture of Vornado Realty Trust and affiliates of Lawrence Ruben Company; London-based architectural design firm, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners; and Architect-of-Record, Adamson Associates.

Designed to LEED Gold standards, the development will add a new 50+-storey, Class A office tower on top of the existing 5-storey bus terminal.

Significant improvements are also planned for the bus terminal including new mass transit opportunities for commuters through increased bus

Procter & Gamble Head Office

Completed in 1987, this 14-storey head office building was considered the gateway building for North York. The 376,000 sf building housed three floors of the most sophisticated research and development equipment in Canada at that time.

KPMG European Headquarters, 15 Canada Square, Canary Wharf

Situated in the very heart of the Canary Wharf estate, the new European Headquarters for KPMG opened in November 2010. The 15-storey building is designed to be open and transparent reflecting the ethos of the company.

20 Fenchurch

Dubbed the “Walkie Talkie” building due to its concave form, this 37-storey tower will provide over 90,000 gsm of Grade ‘A’ office space with ancillary/retail space at the ground level.

Hearst Tower

Hearst Tower is a dramatic 42-storey glass and steel skyscraper built atop an existing 6-storey Art Deco Building. Inside, a soaring three-story atrium creates a sense of calm on a grand scale. The exterior honeycomb of steel keeps the interior work area uncluttered by pillars and walls, thus creating superb views of the city from most vantages on the work floors.

North American Life Centre

Winner of Limited Architectural Design Competition in 1983, this two-phase mixed use complex incorporates two office towers, ranging from 21 to 23 storeys in height, two levels of retail facing an interior courtyard, thirty-two condominium units, and a senior citizens centre.

The distinct low-rise condominium and senior citizens centre are located along the quiet residential side of the block, acting as a well-placed buffer to the high-rise towers.
