Partially destroyed by the collapse of the World Trade Center in 2001, the Winter Garden was restored to its former grandeur by the original architects, Pelli Clarke Pelli with Architect of Record, Adamson Associates. The project was fast-tracked to meet completion by the one-year anniversary of the September 11th tragedy.
Adamson’s scope of services included partial design development for the new facades, and full contract document and site services for the restoration work. A four-man field office was set up to provide full-time inspection during construction. In 2002, the project received the New York Construction News Award of Merit for Restoration.
