Strategically located in the prominent North York Corridor, this 21-storey building is the new corporate headquarters for Transamerica Life Canada. Highly visible and projecting a powerful corporate presence, the building is energy-efficient, with 27,000 square-foot floor plates, large podium floors on the first two levels, and three levels of underground parking.
The design creates a distinct and identifiable image through its expression of form and use of high quality materials. A dynamic curved curtain wall dramatically slices through the tower and extends to a ‘prow’ on Yonge Street, which both emphasizes the tower’s uniqueness and captures panoramic vistas in all directions. This vertical prow is complimented by the horizontal curtain wall treatment of the remainder of the office floors.
The two-storey glazed office lobby, located at the base of the prow, is placed on the corner to emphasize the significance of the office entry at this prestigious address. The two podium floors act as a base to the tower, which are finished with marble, granite, stainless steel and metal panels, and reflective glass. The tower is sheathed in a warm palette of pewter and grey metal panels, and silver on clear glass.
