North American Life Centre

Winner of Limited Architectural Design Competition in 1983, this two-phase mixed use complex incorporates two office towers, ranging from 21 to 23 storeys in height, two levels of retail facing an interior courtyard, thirty-two condominium units, and a senior citizens centre.

The distinct low-rise condominium and senior citizens centre are located along the quiet residential side of the block, acting as a well-placed buffer to the high-rise towers. The condominiums are finely detailed to reflect the scale of its neighbours and its use of materials and variety of building shape.

The underground commercial component is directly linked to the Finch Subway Station for easy and direct access to and from the office towers. Thus, the North American Life complex became prime real estate, which paved the way to future development in the area.

Phase 1 was completed in 1987 and Phase 2 in 1992.
