In 2006, Adamson Associates was selected as the Architect of Record to lead an international team of architects that includes Foster & Partners (Tower 2), Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partnership (Tower 3), and Maki and Associates (Tower 4). These three towers provide the eastern half of the site that was previously occupied by the World Trade Towers with a new architectural vision and urban framework. The project will integrate existing roads, transportation systems, pedestrian routes and adjacent buildings.
Designed to the highest energy efficiency ratings, all three towers are designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. Each of the World Trade Center Office Towers will employ cutting-edge fuel cell technology to increase efficiency and provide secure clean on-site power generation. These fuel cell installations will together constitute one of the largest fuel cell installations in the world. Safety systems for all three towers are designed to meet both the New York City Building Code and Port Authority requirements.
Due for completion in 2014, it is anticipated that this project will provide a significant new architectural and urban vitality to Lower Manhattan.
