Accounting Assistant

Regular Hours:
8:30 am to 5:00 pm
(Occasional evening or weekend overtime may be required to meet deadlines)

Adamson Associates Architects is a large International Architectural firm located in the heart of downtown Toronto.  We have an immediate need for an Accounting Assistant who will be responsible for accounts payable for multiple companies with multiple currencies, as well as some financial reporting functions, such as bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, working papers, etc.

Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coding and entering invoices (employees expenses, vendors, consultants) to appropriate project accounts and companies in accounting software BST
  • Plan, schedule and approve payments, track due dates
  • Prepare computerized, manual cheques and request bank drafts
  • Filing invoices and reports in a timely manner
  • Preparing and organizing folders for vendors
  • Verifying and balancing of project expenses
  • General ledger reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Preparation of several quarterly working papers
  • Everyday office work such as photocopying, filing, etc.
  • Other duties as required

Skills Required

  • Post Secondary education with focus in an Accounting field
  • 3-5 years relevant, post graduate work experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, Excel, MS Word, accounting software BST
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to ensure that all issues are handled promptly and with the company's best interest in mind
  • Must be able to work alone and in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and work with tight deadlines
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of professionalism in the performance of duties
  • A self-starter with a positive attitude
