In Memoriam – Navjit Singh Matharu

April 07, 2025

Adamson and AAI have lost a dear friend and colleague with the passing of Navjit Singh Matharu on February 28, 2025.

Navjit was a valued and trusted Senior Associate who was based in our Toronto office and contributed to projects around the globe. As a part of the Adamson family for more than two decades, Navjit played an essential role in some of our most prestigious and complex projects. His early work with us includes high-profile New York City projects such as the Bank of America headquarters at One Bryant Park and the Stephen Sondheim Theater.

A tremendous project manager, Navjit was instrumental in the development of World Trade Center Tower 4, and more recently led New York’s Central Park Tower project and Toronto’s the Well, a mixed-use development that neighbours our own office. These projects are among our most challenging to date, and Navjit’s contributions were integral to the success of each.

Navjit was known for the great care and pride he took in his work. He was revered by colleagues across our organization, including those who knew him only by his meticulous drawing sets, which never failed to impress.

Mentorship was of the utmost importance to Navjit, and we know the impact of his thoughtful guidance will carry through many future generations of Adamson. Always soft-spoken and unfailingly positive, he had a remarkable ability to calmly shepherd teams and clients through the most difficult challenges. His quiet and methodical approach helped build the strengths of each and every member of his teams and provided steady reassurance to even the most demanding of clients.

With his commitment, care, and attention, Navjit personified everything we strive to be as a firm. We will celebrate his indelible legacy for as long we practice, and we will endeavour to reflect his dedication, his conscientiousness, and his enthusiasm – for work and for life – in all that we do.
