About project

The 400,000 square foot commercial office and retail development in New York’s East Village area brings a modern contrast to the historic Cooper Union building across the street

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Maki and Associates, this 13-story Class-A office and retail development features an exterior cladding of black and silver glass with black granite and aluminum fins and boasts a distinctive angular design on each of its four sides.

Occupying an entire city block in New York’s East Village, 51 Astor has over 400,000 square feet of rentable office and retail space. The structural steel and concrete slab building incorporates a Low-E glazed and aluminum curtain wall.

Unique features include a private green roof terrace on the fifth floor and an urban plaza at grade, designed by Thomas Balsley Associates.
