About project
About project

The East Winter Garden at Heron Quays is a multi-purpose public space that houses receptions, concerts and accommodates exhibitions. It contains a full restaurant on a mezzanine overlooking the main hall and connections to the Jubilee Place retail mall below.

Due to the elegant architectural aesthetic of the arched roof trusses and the fully glazed roof, the structure required careful modeling with 3D CAD software to communicate the design intent to the fabricator and to study the various connections for consistency of approach.

Adamson worked closely with the roof structure contractor to design a system that fixed the glazing directly to structural steel purlins rather than employing an additional sub-grid of framing members. This enhanced the clarity and transparency of the design.
