A vibrant and distinctive new neighborhood in London on the iconic Battersea Power Station site
Frank Gehry’s first residential project in the UK, Prospect Place is part of the Battersea Power Station development, a vibrant and distinctive new destination in South London. This part of the riverside neighbourhood includes two buildings that sit to the east of Electric Boulevard – a high street and main pedestrian gateway to the Power Station – and is enlivened by double-height retail spaces at ground level.
The Prospect Place buildings boast 308 Gehry-designed residential units, no two of which are the same. Interiors feature open-plan layouts, access to a winter garden or terrace, and city views. An intervention that is both sensitive to the iconic Battersea Power Station and visually connected to the broader urban fabric, the project is characterized by undulating white facades that contrast with the rigid geometry of the site’s historic structures. The overall Battersea development also includes a roof garden designed by Foster + Partners, and Wilkinson Eyre’s revitalization of the Power Station.
